Drying agents

For various technical applications, it is necessary to remove residual moisture from gases, liquids and other substances. The separation of residual moisture using physical-technical methods can sometimes be challenging. Therefore, drying agents are often used to chemically bind or adsorb the moisture. The most commonly used substances include silica gels and A-type zeolites with different pore diameters.

We offer various highly effective zeolite-based drying agents under the name ISO-LITH. These can be supplied as a powder or in a customized form as a zeolite paste.

Our ‘ISO-LITH Powder 3AN’ as well as our ‘ISO-LITH Paste 3AN’ and the ‘settling-stabilized ISO-LITH Paste 3A’ contain a zeolite mineral with a defined cavity structure of 3 Å. Water molecules from the organic binders to be dried diffuse selectively into these cavities and are adsorptively bound.

A typical application is the direct preparation of polyurethane formulations with our ISO-LITH paste (consisting of at least 50% molecular sieve powder in castor oil) or powder. This reliably prevents the formation of carbon dioxide bubbles when isocyanate hardener is added. The use of a paste prevents rapid moisture absorption and dusting of the powder.
